Review of Play'n Go casino software
Swedish online gaming software developer Play'n Go has been in business since 1997, developing a series of online casino games that have been distributed to operators primarily focused in the European market. The company currently boasts offices in its native Sweden and Hungary, and it holds licenses in the UK, Malta, Denmark, Gibraltar, Belgium, and Alderney.
Play'n Go develops its products using its proprietary core technology, which it dubs "Maven". The software allows customers to access to a hosted server solution that can handle loads of players at any given moment. Of course, the meat and potatoes of any online gaming developer are the games that they put out. Although it has been around for a very long time, Play'n Go does not have a library the size of larger developers such as Microgaming. Still, players will find that the company has over 100 games, including table games, slot machines, video poker, and scratch card games.
Most of Play'n Go's titles are slots, which are developed from ideas completely in-house. The games have high production values, and enough bonus features to keep punters entertained. Some of their modern slot machine releases such as Book of Dead, Tower Quest, Royal Masquerade, and Wild North are among the best looking slots we have seen in recent times.
Play'n Go also has a mobile platform that allows for its games to be played on smartphones or tablets. These games are accurate representations of their desktop brethren, containing the same graphics and features resulting in a product that is in no way a step down.
Adjustable RTP controversy
After initially offering games with a singular fixed RTP value for several years, in recent times it has become apparent that Play'n Go is releasing its newer games with adjustable RTP values. In general, just about every Play'n Go new release can be set to one of five different RTP values that are roughly equivalent to 96% (the default), 94%, 91%, 87%, or 84%. The exact values seem to be relative to the default RTP of the game, so for example if the default for a game such as Legacy of Egypt is 96.5% then the other lower settings will all be half a percent higher too.
Obviously no-one wants to be playing their favourite game if it has been set to a criminally low 84%, so what can you do about it? You should always check the current RTP of the game by clicking on the question mark help button which is usually at the bottom of the game screen. This will bring up some information about the game and how to play, and should disclose the current RTP setting that the game is being run at.
Some regulated jurisdictions have restrictions on how low the casinos may go. For example Malta will not permit its licensees to set Play'n Go's games to anything lower than 92%. Actually scratch that, in May 2021 the MGA announced the reduction of the lower bar to a paltry 85%. While for the UKGC the lowest value allowed is the 91% setting. Unfortunately if you are playing the game at an unlicensed casino or one run from an unregulated jurisdiction such as Curacao, there is no restriction on how low they can go and the RTP setting may not be disclosed in the help file. If that is the case, the safest thing to do is assume the worst and do not play the game.
Conclusion
The Play'n Go library of games isn't nearly as large as some of the other developers out there, but the games are well-constructed and available for play at some excellent casinos. Their recent game releases have been impressive and I always look forward to seeing what they come up with next. Just be sure to always check the RTP setting of any Play'n Go slot machine that you wish to play before putting your money at risk.

Play n Go game provider has definitely improved a lot and lately they are releasing quite interesting games. Some of my favorites are still their older titles, such as Book of Dead. Regardless, this game provider is always a provider I find trustful and exciting.
