Today there will be a press conference hosted by US politicians Paul Tonko and Richard Blumenthal, which will see a bill introduced to Congress that'll introduce online sportsbetting legislation on a federal level.
The bill is going to be called the Supporting Affordability and Fairness with Every Bet Act (Safe Bet Act) and will try to make the issue a federal one. Right now, sportsbetting regulation and legalization are state issues, as the US Supreme Court overturned the federal ban on the activity in 2018.
The Safe Bet Act would establish federal standards in three categories for sportsbooks, with advertising, affordability, and AI checks. Among the rules, no advertising during sporting events or use of bonuses can be used in the spots. Operators would be required to not accept more than 5 deposits from players over a 24-hour period, and that affordability checks should be required before accepting large deposits. Credit card deposits would also be banned.
Using artificial intelligence would also be restricted, as using AI to track habits in order to offer custom promotions would be illegal. AI generation of microbes would also be forbidden.
It's unclear whether the bill will be able to progress, as it will enter through Committee, and, if it passes, will go to the House floor for debate and a vote. This will take some time at the very least.

This is stupid. If it's a state issue, let the states regulate it. Go solve the bigger problems.
