The state of Kentucky's sportsbetting industry is very active, as the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission revealed that handle hit $129.2 million during the month of July.
The number is actually down 14% from the month prior, but also comes as most major sports leagues weren't active. Of the total, $125.4 million was wagered online, with the remainder coming at horseracing tracks throughout the Bluegrass State.
Revenues for the vertical were $15.1 million after adjustments. FanDuel was the market leader, with $6.1 million in revenue on $41.2 million in bets. DraftKings was next with $5.7 million on $48 million in handle. Tax revenues were $2.1 million for the state.
State governor Andy Beshear, a prominent proponent of betting expansion in Kentucky, said that the industry is outperforming expectations. Since its launch in 2023, Kentucky sportsbetting wagers stood at $2.23 billion, with operators generating $260 million in revenues. Tax revenues raised came in at $36.7 million.
