FanDuel Takes Washington D.C. By Storm

Washington D.C.'s Office of Lottery and Gaming has issued its latest financial report, noting that operator FanDuel led the market with $21.7 million in handle during the month of August.

August was the first month that FanDuel was active in the market, and it led the way with $2.8 million in revenue. DraftKings was next with $875,000, while BetMGM had $450,588 and Caesars had $321,877.

The D.C. market opened up this past summer after only allowing the Intralot skin GambetDC to operate. The move seems to have been a hit among gamblers, as gambling handle and revenues are up.

The tax rates for BetMGM, Caesars, and FanDuel are currently paying a 20% tax rate to the District as they offer both online and retail sportsbetting. DraftKings is paying 30% as they're online only. The retail-only books Grand Central, Sports & Social, Ugly Mug, and Cloakbook are currently paying a 10% tax rate.
