Betting software groups Spribe OÜ and Adjarabet have been handed a massive $330 million loss in court, as Aviator LLC sued the companies in a Georgian court, alleging trademark and copyright infringement.
Aviator is a very popular crash-style betting game that has been offered by Spribe to its casino clients. In Georgia, the game is available at Adjarabet, which is one of the largest operators in the country.
Aviator LLC noticed the popularity and filed suit. The company alleged that Spribe registered its own trademark for Aviator knowing that Aviator LLC was in operation and the company already held the name. The company also said that the usage of the name also infringed on Aviator LLC's copyright.
The Georgian Court of First Instance agreed, and issued the $330 million judgment against the company, while also invalidating the Aviator trademark help by Spribe. Additionally, Flutter Entertainment-owned Adjarabet has been told to stop offering Aviator to its customers.
Regarding the judgment, attorney Nikoloz Gogilidze said: "We are pleased with the outcome of the court's ruling on this claim and we will continue to aggressively protect our client's intellectual property from unlicensed use on any international gaming platforms."
No comment from Spribe or Adjarabet was available at press time.
