Michigan Regulators Shutter Illegal Casino, Block Bovada

Last week the Michigan Gaming Control Board, alongside the state's Attorney General announced that they've conducted a warrant search at the Red Horse Bar in Saginaw and broke up an illegal gambling operation as a result.

The search saw the Michigan State Police taking 6 slot machines as well as $5,161 in cash and $2,820 in gift cards into custody at the bar. The owners of the bar were charged with felony gambling charges but were subsequently released after paying $6,000 bonds. The two had previously been served with a cease-and-desist letter, but ignored the correspondence.

Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director Henry Williams commented on the bust, noting: "The Michigan Gaming Control Board remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring compliance with all state gambling regulations. We will continue to work diligently to identify and eliminate any illegal gambling activities that pose a threat to the integrity of the industry and the welfare of the public."

In related news, the MGCB announced that they have blocked the betting site Bovada after issuing the operator Harp Media B.V. with a cease-and-desist letter last month. The move is curious, as Michigan-based bettors have been unable to play at the site for some time.

No comment from the operator was available at press time.

This casino isn't "local" to me, but it is about 20 minutes away. I've drank there several times, and this makes me LOL.
