The Best Online Slots of 2024 (So Far)

Lion Strike

When it comes to the world of online slot machines, us gamblers are spoilt for choice. Unless you live in some backwater locale like North Korea, Australia, or Texas, the chances are pretty high that you'll have some choice in terms of online slots.

2024 is not even half over yet, but it has already become a solid year for game releases. We see games coming out almost on a daily basis, with some developers like Play'n Go releasing new games every week. That's right: by the end of the year, Play'n Go will have released 52 new games if they keep on their torrid pace. Not everything that comes out is gold. Sometimes the games are derivative, and sometimes they're blander than a PBS Tuesday night television series.

This article isn't looking to tear down, but instead is looking to celebrate. We're going to be taking a look at what I feel are the best online slots of 2024 thus far, and telling you why you should play them. This list isn't comprehensive, and some games may be knocked off at the end of the year, but these titles are ones you should be looking for at your favourite casino.

D-Day (Nolimit City)

What could be more fun than storming a beach and facing near certain death? Only one thing: storming a beach and facing near certain death while possibly winning some cash prizes! Nolimit City's D-Day slot packs in an awesome theme that sees you doing the dirty work while generals strategize in the game's background.

Starting with 720 ways to win, the game's pay lines can expand to much larger numbers. Features like Atomic Wilds can cause huge win multipliers, while Bombers, Stukas, Panzers, and Howitzers can also cause havoc on the reels (in your favor). The game also packs in scatters and free spins to keep the slaughter rolling. A max win of 55,555x your bet amount can also be triggered.

Without a doubt, this game is worth taking a look at. If you play at a casino that has Evolution titles, it's likely Nolimit City games are there and you should check this one out.

Lion Strike (Rabcat)

Okay, so technically Lion Strike came out in December of 2023, but the game came out so late in the month that it may as well be considered a 2024 game. Rabcat continues to put in strong work with their slot machine releases with Lion Strike, which takes you to the plains of Africa as you go on the hunt with a pride of lions, looking to feast on the flesh of lesser animals and rake in some of that grassland cheddar.

The game has 5 reels and 1024 ways to win, which can expand up to 15,625 ways in the game's bonus rounds. These bonus features include stacked lion symbols, free spins, and Super Free Spins, which can add in wilds and 3,125 ways to win, which can expand further with multiplier wilds. Lion Strike has a solid 96.13% RTP, and the visuals make you feel like you're watching a classic animated film from the 1990s that our lawyers tell us we shouldn't mention here.

3 Clown Monty II (Play'n Go)

Okay, so confession time: I hate clowns. I'm not afraid of them or anything, but I just hate their stupid faces, their stupid acts, and their stupid big feet. Because of this, I wasn't expecting much when I played 3 Clown Monty II by Play'n Go when it launched in January. When I booted the game up though, I was pleasantly surprised. I mean come on, the game sports a cigar-smoking gorilla in a pimp outfit!

Feature wise, the game is pretty basic compared to the other two games I've already mentioned, but, when the hits come, watch out! Sporting multiplier wilds, free spins, and a 3 Card Monty style game that sees your wins multiplied by up to 500x your bet amount.

Tumble in the Jungle (Yggdrasil)

Have you ever heard of a better idea than putting boxing gloves on wild apes and having them duke it out in the jungle? Me either, and, frankly, I'm juiced to know that Yggdrasil had the idea. Their Tumble in the Jungle slot brings a cool Wild Fight feature to the reels, which sees two apes fighting it out to determine which symbol will show up on the reels. The game's art is bright and vibrant, and features include cascading reels, free spins, win multipliers, and more. You can also buy into the bonus round if you don't want to wait for your fortunes to turn.

The game is a lot of fun to play with the wild fights, and I was able to string together a nice streak of free spins once that bolstered my winnings. The game has a lower RTP than normal at 94%, but it is definitely different, and these days that still says something in my book.

So, what are your thoughts? I know some of these games are going to not be everybody's favourite, and maybe there's something I missed. What are your favourite games of the year so far? Let us know in the comments below.
