Altenar Gets Greek Licence

This week betting group Altenar has been granted a business-to-business licence in Greece, allowing the company to provide its betting platform to operators in the country.

The certification is the latest for Altenar, which is active in over 50 jurisdictions around the world. The company notably holds licences in Malta, the UK, Greece, Romania, and the Canadian province of Ontario. Altenar provides sportsbetting and online casino gaming services through its platform.

This licence will be good for seven years.

Commenting on the certification, Altenar Compliance Manager Marina Zacharopoulou said: "The process of obtaining a licence for Altenar was rigorous, albeit familiar due to our experience with similar procedures in other jurisdictions. While we encountered typical challenges along the way, we navigated them smoothly.

"Achieving a Greek licence holds special significance for Altenar, as a considerable portion of our team is Greek, making it feel like a homecoming. Personally, I believe that Greece's historical connection to games of chance, evident in the popularity of gambling in ancient times and the presence of deities like Tyche, adds cultural resonance to our licensure."

As of press time we don't have any indication as to what operators Altenar is planning to work with in the country, but we'll be updating readers as we learn more.
