Ukraine Gets 194 Gaming Licence Applications in Q1

Ukrainian gaming regulator KRAIL has revealed that it has received 194 gaming licence applications during the first quarter of the year, resulting in 152 approvals.

138 of the licences awarded were for gaming machines, and nine were awarded for gaming tables. Three licences were for the provision of gaming services. One online gaming licence was awarded, as was a gaming table with a roulette wheel.

The regulator revealed that two applications were returned to applicants due to insufficient documentation, and one refusal was made on a separate application.

Despite being ravaged by the 2022 invasion of its territory by Russian forces, the gaming industry continues to carry on throughout Ukraine. The country boasts online gaming services, including slots, table games, and sportsbetting, and a number of land betting destinations.

Last week we reported that Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky is considering a ban on online gambling for active duty military members after a soldier submitted a petition. That petition got thousands of signatures, necessitating consideration by the president of the country.

That's a surprisingly high amount of gaming license applications. Especially considering what the country has been going through the last year or so.
