Tennessee Sportsbetting Handle Up in March

Sportsbetting handle in Tennessee grew in March, as gamblers bet $473.6 million on events during the month, growing 20.6% from the year prior.

The handle total was also up 25.2% from the month prior, but fell way short of the all-time high, which was reached in November of last year. Revenue totals weren't reported by the Volunteer State, but it was revealed that taxes collected by the state were $8.7 million, up 24.8% from February, but down 0.5% from last year.

Tennessee has a number of the largest sportsbooks in the United States operating in the state, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and ESPN Bet. The large increase in handle during the month was likely due to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which saw the University of Tennessee reach the Elite 8 before losing to Number 1 seed Purdue.
