Ontario Online Gaming Generates $63 Billion in Handle in Second Year

The Canadian province of Ontario saw its second year of regulated online gaming generate $63 billion CAD in wagers across the 77 different gaming sites that are active across the area.

The highest quarter for wagering was the fourth quarter ending March 31st, 2024, as handle was $17.8 billion CAD, growing every quarter during the year. Online casino games had $51.7 billion CAD in handle, while sportsbetting generated $9.7 billion CAD. Poker handle was $1.6 billion CAD.

Revenues were $2.4 billion CAD, with revenues once again growing every quarter and finishing out at $690 million CAD. Casino gaming generated $1.8 billion CAD, while $588 million CAD came from sportsbetting, and poker revenues were $63 million CAD.

There were 1.3 million active players during the fourth quarter, and monthly spend per player were $263 CAD.

Regarding the performance, iGaming Ontario Executive Director Martha Otton said: "With $63bn in wagering and $2.4bn in gaming revenue, the second year of Ontario's igaming market is more than 70% bigger than the first.

"As the market matures into its third year, I look forward to building on this foundation of success with operators and other partners as they invest in Ontario so that Ontarians can continue to play with confidence."
