North Carolina's Initial Sportsbetting Numbers Come In

The state of North Carolina's State Lottery Commission has reported the Tarheel State's initial month of sportsbetting numbers after launching the market on March 11th, noting that handle was $659.3 million during the period.

The total was generated by $456.7 million of player funds and $202.6 million in promotional bets that were offered by licensed sportsbooks in the state. $24 million was bet on the market's first day in operation. Player win during the month was $590.8 million, and $2.1 million of bets were voided or canceled out. This left gross wagering revenues of $66.5 million during the period.

Gross wagering revenue taxes are at 18%, and although no official totals were reported, this would come to about $11.9 million before any rebates or adjustments.

There are eight companies operating in the state, with the likes of DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, and BetMGM all offering services.
