8 North Carolina Sportsbetting Licenses Awarded

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has revealed that they've issued eight online sportsbetting licenses to operators ahead of the Tarheel State's March 11th launch of online sportsbetting.

Licenses were awarded to big-name brands like BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, and Bet365. There were also licenses awarded to smaller operators as well. Those operators who wanted a license had to partner with a sports league, team, or sporting venue in the state, which saw an influx of companies signing agreements with NASCAR teams, while ESPN Bet partnered with the PGA Tour to become sponsors of the Well Fargo Championship.

The regulated market for sportsbetting in North Carolina will go live at 12 pm on March 11th and its likely that there'll be a number of events held throughout the state. Betting revenues will be taxed at 18%, and there'll be a self-exclusion scheme available for gamblers to enroll in should they not want to gamble. It will be funded by some of the North Carolina Problem Gambling Program, which will have a $2 million annual budget derived from taxes paid.

Casino Listings News is following the launch of the market and will post relevant stories as they happen.
