Cyprus Launches Self-Exclusion Programme

Last week Cyprus' National Betting Authority revealed that they've launched a self-exclusion programme in order to help players separate themselves from online betting sites.

The programme will allow players to effectively ban themselves from online betting sites. The service can be used for a pre-determined period of time or indefinitely. While excluded, players can still log into their casino accounts and withdraw funds that are available.

The move is part of the Safer Gambling Strategy that Cyprus implemented, which is good for the years 2022 and 2025.

Regarding the launch, Cyprus National Betting Authority President Ioanna Fiakkou said, "It is a powerful tool for every player, aiming to promote healthy betting behaviour and the protection of vulnerable groups.

"The development of the National Self-Exclusion Platform reflects the Authority's commitment to protecting players and creating a sustainable and fair environment for the betting sector.

"Initially, the platform concerns only online betting service providers that hold a Class B license from the Authority, but the platform is dynamic and can add more functionality."
