Arizona Sportsbetting Handle Jumps in December

The Arizona Department of Gaming revealed today that sportsbetting handle rose in December, ticking up 21.1% to $693.3 million when compared to last year.

Those numbers were down 2.8% when compared to November, but are still very strong overall. Online gaming handle was $685.1 million, while retail sportsbooks had $6.4 million. Limited event wagering drew in $1.8 million in handle.

Revenues were $66.1 million, a new record for the state and up 22.1% from last year. It was also up 62.4% from November's revenues. $65.2 million of that revenue came from online wagering. $625,986 came from retail sportsbooks. $240,604 came from limited event wagering.

There were $17.8 million in free bets or promotional credits issued, with virtually all of that coming from online wagering. Adjusted gross revenues were $48.3 million, up 30.3% from last year.

The top operator of the month was FanDuel, which had $236.3 million in handle and $23.7 million in revenue. DraftKings was next with $228.5 million in handle and $13.8 million in revenue. BetMGM was in third position with $82.7 million in handle and $6.1 million in revenues.

Taxes paid to the state were $4.8 million. $4.7 million came from online sportsbooks, while $49,703 was from retail sportsbooks, and $19,248 from limited event wagering.
