AGA Estimates Super Bowl Bets of $23.1 Billion

American gambling trade body the American Gaming Association revealed this week that they're estimating that wagers on Super Bowl LVIII this Sunday will reach a record $23.1 billion.

The event is being held in Las Vegas and will be played between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium, just off the Las Vegas Strip. To get an estimate of wagering, the AGA surveyed 2,204 adults. That survey showed that an estimated 67.8 million will place a bet, up 35% from last year. 42.7 million of those will do so online, at a retail sportsbook, or with a bookie. 36.5 million will bet casually, either in a squares contest or with friends.

28.7 million will bet with an online sportsbook that carries a license in their appropriate state.

Currently, 47% of money coming in is on the Chiefs, while 44% are betting on the 49ers to win.

Regarding the survey, AGA CEO Bill Miller said, "As the Super Bowl comes to Las Vegas for the first time, this year's record interest in wagering marks a full circle moment for the US gaming industry.

"Our priority remains getting this opportunity right by providing the consumer protections only a regulated market can guarantee and investing in responsible gambling tools, safeguards and education."

Casino Listings News will be posting numbers on the actual bets placed on the event when they come in.
