Crete Getting First Casino

Greece's island of Crete appears to be getting close to launching its first-evert land casino, as REDS SA has purchased a piece of property for €42.2 million.

The property is located on a former US military base and is 345,567 square meters. It is currently being used for marine research and hosts an aquarium as well as the International Exhibition Center of Crete. The proposed casino would have a full gaming floor, a hotel, shopping area, conference facilities, and more.

REDS SA is a subsidiary of Elkator Group, and the company plans to build the site within the next five years.

Plans will have to be submitted to the Hellenic Gaming Commission for approval, which will take some time.
