Today American casino group MGM Resorts International announced that they've unveiled their plans for a new casino in the state of New York, the latest casino plan by a major operator for the area.
The development would transform the Empire City Casino into a full venue that would be located in Yonkers. The casino would feature slots, table games, and a high-limit VIP area. Additionally, the location would include a sportsbook, restaurants, and 5,000 seat entertainment venue.
Regarding the project, MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle said, "MGM Resorts has a long and proud history of delivering world-class entertainment and gaming experiences and we couldn't be more excited to build on that track record at MGM Empire City.
"A full-scale casino and entertainment destination will provide unparalleled experiences, create thousands of jobs, boost the state's economy and be a game-changer for the entire region."
MGM is competing to obtain one of the three different full casino licenses up for grabs in the Empire State. The licenses will be announced in the next few months, as multiple plans have been unveiled by large operators.
