A new casino is being pitched by the owner of the MLB's New York Mets and Hard Rock International right next to the team's Citi Field stadium.
The proposed casino would be located on 50 acres that are currently being used as a parking lot and would include up to 15,000 permanent and construction-related jobs. It would field a gaming floor, a 20-acre public park, food spots, a new transit station, as well as new athletic fields. Such a project wouldn't be cheap, with the resort estimated to cost $8 billion.
The proposal will be competing against others for one of the three Downstate New York gaming licenses up for grabs. There has been a proposed spot in Coney Island by Thor Equities Group, a Caesars casino in Times Square, a Bally's casino in the far West Side of Manhattan, a Las Vegas Sands Casino in Long Island, and a Wynn Resorts casino in Hudson Yards.
Casino Listings News has been following the proposal and bid process and will be keeping readers abreast of new developments.
