Fanatics to Donate to Make-A-Wish

Betting operator and apparel group Fanatics announced today that they're becoming the Official Sports Partner of Make-A-Wish, which coincides with a large $10 million donation by the operator.

Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organization that aids sick children in having wishes fulfilled. Examples of wishes filled include meeting athletes or doing exclusive activities. The organization was founded in 1980 and is active in over 50 countries.

Fanatics has recently expanded into the betting world after becoming the preeminent sports apparel group in North America. Fanatics creates hats and jerseys for the NHL, MLB, NBA, and NFL, among other leagues. The company has stepped in to purchase the American operations of PointsBet and is launching their own sportsbook in states where they can obtain a gaming license.

Commenting on the agreement, Fanatics Chief People Officer Orlando Ashford said, "Fanatics has been championing Make-A-Wish and its incredible efforts for many years, and this partnership will be an ongoing testament to the power of sports and the possibilities for children to heal through connections to their favorite teams and sports heroes.

"Fanatics' relationships and access to thousands of athletes across all sports, a wide-ranging roster of preeminent partners, and an expanding sports platform will all be leveraged to give these incredibly brave kids and their families the most memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that we're honored to deliver."

Make-A-Wish CEO Leslie Motter also commented, noting: "A critical illness upends childhood, bringing months, and sometimes years, of fear and traumatic stress into the lives of children and their families. Our partnership with Fanatics will help us create transformative experiences that will leave a lasting, positive impact long after the wish, often marking a turning point in a child's treatment and recovery."
