Colorado Sportsbetting Handle Rises in August

The Colorado Department of Revenue has revealed that the state's sportsbetting industry saw its handle rise 5.5% in August to $306.1 million.

Of the total bet, $304.2 million came from online betting, while $1.9 million was wagered at a retail sportsbook. Player win was $280.2 million, with $278.5 million online and $1.6 million from retail books. This left the casinos with $25.9 million in revenue, which was level with last year but up 3.6% from July's numbers.

Baseball was the most popular sport for betting, with $105.5 million in handle. Tennis was next with $29.9 million, while basketball was third with $26.4 million bet. $53.5 million was wagered on parlay bets.

The state also reported $1.8 million in tax revenue collected.
