Ukraine's parliament this week announced that it is reintroducing an 18% tax on turnover for online casino operations, generating roughly UAH 1.5 billion in to the country's budget moving forward.

The move came in an amendment to the Ukrainian tax code through Draft Law 6,529 and will put the rate into place when it is signed. The move was announced through the country's Finance Committee, with Chairman Danylo Hetmantsev broadcasting it through the Telegram messaging service.

Other moves in the tax code included more sanctions that can be imposed by the country on gambling operators.

Ukraine's gambling industry has continued to chug along, even amid the ongoing war with neighboring Russia. The country has imposed sanctions on a number of gambling operators that have ties to Russia, with some being forced out of the market altogether.
