Spillemyndigheden to Block 49 New Gambling Sites

Denmark's gaming regulator Spillemyndigheden has announced that they've obtained approval from a local court to block 49 unlicenced betting sites.

The regulator has now worked in 276 unlicenced betting site blocks since they started the practice in 2012. Spillemyndigheden has been issuing blocking orders once a year, but will now up the frequency to twice per year.

The sites blocked include skin betting sites, and most are smaller betting groups. The largest name on the list is Stake.com.

Regarding the blocks, Spillemyndigheden Director Anders Dorph said, "We are constantly trying to optimise our efforts against illegal gambling, and one of our latest initiatives is, among other things, to block illegal websites more often than before. This means that illegal sites will be active in Denmark for a shorter period of time, because the sites will be blocked sooner after we have identified them."
