The state of New York saw its sportsbetting handle grow 20% from last year in January, hitting $962.1 million during the period.
The handle marks the first time that the Empire State's gambling handle has dropped below the $1 billion mark since last August, but it is likely these numbers will rebound as professional and college football are getting underway in the coming weeks.
Revenues for the state hit $105.1 million, rising 43.4% from last year and also 1.3% from June. FanDuel was the top-performing book in the state, generating $41.09 million in revenue on $384.6 million in handle. DraftKings was next with $41.08 million in revenue on $340.4 million in handle. BetMGM was third with $6.7 million on $65 million in handle, while Rush Street Interactive generated $3.2 million in revenue on $35.7 million in handle.
Operators in the state paid $53.6 million in taxes.
