Danish Streamer Fined For Promoting Gambling

This story was published more than 1 year ago.

A Twitch streamer from Denmark was fined DKK10,000 by the country's gaming regulator Spillemyndigheden for advertising gambling without authorisation.

The streamer advertised the unnamed service on Twitch in violation of Danish law. Spillemyndigheden says that they reported the individual to the police, who concluded they did break gambling advertising rules. This appears to be the first time that a Twitch streamer has been sanctioned by the regulator.

Regarding the case, Spillemyndigheden issued a statement, which read: "If a gambling operator does not hold a licence to provide gambling in Denmark, the operator must not market its gambling offers in neither print, electronic, nor social media."

No report on who the streamer is was available at press time.
