NFL Suspends Eyioma Uwazurike For NFL Betting

Yesterday the National Football League announced that it has indefinitely suspended Denver Broncos defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike after it was revealed that he bet on NFL games last season.

The second-year player was found to have placed the bets, and that he would be disqualified from participating in NFL activities until at least July 24th, 2024, when he can apply for reinstatement to the league. NFL polciy prohibits players, coaches, and other personnel from placing bets on NFL games, and they also cannot gamble at team facilities.

In a statement, the Denver Broncos said, "We were informed by the NFL today that Eyioma Uwazurike had been suspended by the league indefinitely for violating its gambling policy. Or organization fully cooperated with this investigation and takes matters pertaining to the integrity of the game very seriously.

"The Denver Broncos will continue to provide all members of our organization with the necessary education, resources and support to ensure compliance with the NFL's Gambling Policy."

Uwazurike was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 draft after playing at Iowa State.
