Merkur Opens UK Casino

Gauselmann brand Merkur has opened its first-ever UK casino as the group has opened a spot in the Scottish town of Aberdeen.

The casino has 20 gaming machines in addition to two electronic roulette tables. There are also two blackjack tables and four roulette tables available. The casino was opened with a ceremony that included a number of local business leaders, gambling industry workers, and other local officials. This opening was headlined by a concert from the bank Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Chris Ashton.

Merkur is based in Germany, and is part of the larger Gauselmann Group. Gauselmann is a gaming giant, with more than 200 investments into gambling companies. It also employs nearly 14,000 people around the globe.

Merkur's Irinia Ruf commented on the launch, noting: "We are delighted to have made history by opening the first Merkur Casino in the UK. When the opportunity arose to purchase a licence in Aberdeen it was a natural progression to move into the sector and launch our first UK casino."
