Betclic to Sponsor Liga Portugal

Online betting group Betclic has announced that they've signed a sponsorship agreement with Liga Portugal, Portugal's top flight of football.

The sponsorship will begin with the upcoming 2023-24 season and run through the 2026-27 season, with the league being known as the Liga Portugal Betclic. It had previously been known as Liga Portugal Bwin.

The company will also get some exclusive marketing perks related to the league.

Commenting on the deal, Betclic Head of International Markets Ricardo Domingues said, "It is with great pride that Betclic assumes its sponsorship of Liga Portugal. This reaffirms our commitment to support football and national sport.

"We believe that the combination of the potential of both parties, aligned with a common desire to develop the competition and reinforce our values, are factors that bring us closer together.

"It allows us to serve people, fans, athletes, clubs, organisations and sports agents, all with the aim of improving sport."

Liga Portugal President Pedro Proenca also commented, adding: "It is a privilege for Liga Portugal to associate with a market leader multinational such as Betclic. This partnership unequivocally shows the high level of professional football in Portugal.

"Brands like Betclic share our vision and, above all, our ambition for the growth of Portuguese professional football. This is an unequivocal sign of what the Liga Portugal brand is today."
