LeoVegas Joins Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming

Gaming operator LeoVegas has announced that they've joined the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which will serve as a body to promote responsible gambling for the sportsbetting industry.

LeoVegas joins the likes of Betsson, bet365, Netbet, Betway, Flutter, Rei do Pitaco, and Entain as a member of the group, which was founded last month. The group will work to figure out how sportsbetting can be worked into Brazil's economy when it eventually becomes regulated. The country is currently working through the process to regulate sportsbetting, with operators paying 16% tax on gross gaming revenues, while players will pay 30% on winnings. The industry will be regulated by the Ministry of Finance.

Punters will have to be 18 or older, and athletes in the country, as well as book employees, will be forbidden from making bets.

In a statement, LeoVegas said: "Joining the ranks of other major igaming operators, LeoVegas will contribute its expertise and experiences to the public debate on igaming regulation in Brazil. The group's objective is to support the creation of a sustainable Brazilian igaming market.

"The IBJR strives to advocate for transparent rules and guidelines for igaming companies. Its goal is to ensure these companies can operate legally, safeguarding the interests of both players and the wider society.

"As a proud member of the IBJR, LeoVegas Group is excited to contribute to these important discussions, reflecting our continued commitment to promoting responsible gaming."
