Austria Ups Age to Purchase Lottery Tickets to 18

This week it was announced that Austria Lotteries has increased the age required to purchase lottery tickets and scratch-off tickets, with purchasers now having to be 18 years old to buy the tickets.

The restriction will go into effect on July 10th, but will be a voluntary self-limitation measure. Lottery products can currently be purchased by those over the age of 16, but will be going up. Lottery purchase points will have to conduct ID checks on players to ensure that they're of legal age.

There are multiple lottery products available in Austria, including the EuroMillions, Lotto 6 aus 45, Toto, and others.

No comment from the company on the decision or any trade bodies was available at press time.
