The Women's National Basketball Association has announced that it has jumped on board with the American Gaming Association's 'Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly' campaign and will work to push responsible sportsbetting moving forward.
The initiative has been around since 2019 and focuses on four principles of responsible gambling, including: keeping to a budget, knowing the odds, gambling with licensed operators, and ensuring betting is social. To help promote the effort, the NBA will broadcast the initiative at their games in arenas, through broadcast channels, social media, and on digital channels. The WNBABet tab on the league's website will also have information available.
The initiative has a number of partners, with the likes of the NBA, DraftKings, Barstool Sportsbook, BetMGM, and Bally's all helping support the effort.
Regarding the participation, WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison said, "WNBA fans are always looking for new and exciting ways to immerse themselves in our game, and legal sports betting has opened the door for deeper engagement with our league.
"As we explore this new avenue, the WNBA is committed to ensuring those who choose to wager on our league have the knowledge and tools to do so responsibly."
AGA Senior VP Casey Clark added: "The WNBA's commitment to Have A Game Plan will expand the campaign's reach to new and existing basketball audiences.
"As legal sports betting matures across America, reaching the market's broad group of diverse participants will require exactly the kind of leadership the WNBA, NBA and all of our Have A Game Plan partners have shown."
