Austria Issues €492,000 in Fines in Q1

This week it was revealed that Austria's financial police force, the Bundesministerium Finanzen, has issued €492,000 in fines to operations that were conducting illegal gambling in the country during the first quarter of this year.

The revelation was made in the agency's first-quarter report, which showed the different areas in which the group had issued fines and other enforcement action. During the quarter, there were 46 operations that were investigated, with 27 of those being charged criminally.

Those 27 operations were fined the hefty total. The largest area of concern was in Vienna, which had 20 of the illegal operations and saw €300,000 being fined.

A list of the companies that were fined wasn't made publicly available.
