Gamstop Sets Record for Self-Exclusions in March

UK gambling exclusion service Gamstop announced that they set a record number of self-exclusion registrations during March, with the total number hitting 8,504.

That number is up 24% from last month, with Gamstop saying that the popular Cheltenham Festival horseracing event likely drew more registrations. Gamstop has registered over 365,000 people since its launch in April 2018. The service allows players to self-exclude for either six months, one year, or five years. There are over 300,000 people still excluded as of the time of this report.

Gamstop is the preeminent self-exclusion service in the UK, with the UKGC having made it a licencing condition for operators to work in Gamestop compatibility for customers.

Gamstop CEO Fiona Palmer commented: "Our most recent data shows that, five years after our inception, Gamstop is providing an increasingly important service to potentially vulnerable consumers who want to take a break from gambling.

"The record monthly registrations shows that we cannot underestimate the demand for a scheme such as Gamstop. It is extremely important that we continue to raise awareness to make sure that anyone who needs us knows about us.

"We also need to continue to listen to our users and develop and improve the scheme to meet their needs."
