China's Lottery Sales Jump in February

The lottery industry in China took off in February, as sales jumped 86% from 2022, hitting CNY41.81 billion during the month. The total was up 25.8% from January's total as well.

The Chinese Welfare Lottery's numbers were up 44.2% to CNY13.58 billion, and up 25.2% from the month prior. Instant game revenues were CNY3.6 billion, up 32.3%. Keno numbers were down 16.8% to CNY2.26 billion. Sports Lottery revenues surged 115.9% to CNY28.27 billion, and was up 26.3% from January.

Video lottery revenues were CNY1 million, and there was no revenue from the games the month prior. The machines generated CNY11 million in February of last year.

China's lottery thrives on a large populace and a small number of sanctioned betting options in the country, thus the continued growth of the vertical during the period.
