Dutch Lawmakers Seek Tough Gambling Advertising Changes

This story was published more than 1 year ago.

Lawmakers in the Netherlands are seeking a series of changes to gambling advertising regulations in the country, proposing a new rule that gives two-strikes to operators whose ads reach young people before suspension or revocation of licences.

The proposal from MPs Mirjam Bikker,Michel van Nispen, Kees van der Staaij, and Songül Mutluer would put down the harsh action on gambling operators that have ads that reach those 24 years of age or under. Offending action caught twice by the KSA would see gambling licences either suspended or completely revoked by the regulator.

There have already bans on untargeted gambling advertising, but implementation has been delayed until April. The KSA has been working on punishing operators that have ads that target people aged under 24, with the likes of JOI Gaming being hit with a huge €400,000 fine.
