The American branch of sportsbetting brand Betfred has launched an online sportsbook in the Commonwealth of Virginia, making the state the ninth in which the company is active.

The site will allow gamblers 21 years of age or older and physically located in the state of Virginia to place wagers on sports, including NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, golf, tennis, and more. Customers who register for the Betfred app will be able to enroll in the Betfred Rewards program, which awards gamblers with free bets and other perks.

The launch comes alongside a sponsorship of United Soccer League's Loudoun United. The deal will see the team's shirts bearing the Betfred logo, along with other marketing perks.

"We are excited to finally begin online operations in the Commonwealth of Virginia and look forward to activating our partnership with Loudoun United," said Betfred USA Sports COO Bryan Bennett. "This is the ideal time to launch sports betting with several major sporting events happening over the coming weeks and months, and of course with the USL Championship season kicking off soon."

Loudoun United's Boug Raftery also commented, adding: "We're excited to introduce the Red-and-White Community to our sports betting partner, Betfred.

"You can expect to see a prominent presence from Betfred at home games and various online club channels. We look forward to a fantastic 2023 season and helping to scale our business together."
