Online gaming group iGaming Ontario revealed that the final three months of 2022 saw active online player accounts double, with revenues also surging 71% from the quarter prior.
The province generated $457 million CAD in the quarter running from October 1st through December 31st, and there were 910,000 active online player accounts, which was up 45% from the quarter prior. Handle for the quarter was $11.5 billion CAD, up 91% from the previous quarter. Average monthly spend per account was $167 CAD, which was up 18%.
There are 36 operators active in the province, up 50% from the second quarter. 68 sites were being run by these operators, up 62%.
Ontario launched its online gaming market in April 2022, and has proven to be a popular activity for the province's residents. The region is Canada's most-populous, as it houses the major cities of Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Windsor, London, and others.
