Ukraine Cancels Another 1xBet Site

This story was published more than 1 year ago.

Ukrainian gambling regulator KRAIL has announced that they've closed another betting site tied to operator 1xBet after the company had its gaming license canceled in September.

The regulator was informed of a site operating in the country using the 1xBet brand. KRAIL reached out to the site and demanded the they cease operations in the country. The company complied, blocking access to Ukrainian IP addresses.

1xBet parent company TBK LLC had its gaming license suspended in September after inaccurate information from the company was provided to KRAIL for licensing purposes. Of particular note was inaccurate information related to documents that prove "the relevant company does not act in the interests of residents of foreign states that carry out armed aggression against Ukraine, and/or actions of which create conditions for the emergence of war conflict and the use of military force against Ukraine."

1xBet has a headquarters in Cyprus and uses a Curacao gaming license, but offers services throughout the world. The company has Russian ownership, and has drawn controversy in the past for alleged embezzlement and unlawful operation.

With everything going on in Ukraine right now, it's pretty crazy that they still have a functioning gaming industry.

I was going to say something exactly in that sense slim...it's hard to believe 1xbet license is the biggest problem right now out there.

Well... 1xBet is thought to be ultimately controlled by Russians with a "colourful history" shall we say. So Ukraine are probably concerned with stopping the flow of funds to Russian interests.

That makes a lot of sense Ed. I've personally never been a fan of 1xbet, they seemed dodgy to me. Also agree with slim, I'm sure online gambling (considering many places have suffered electricity losses amongst all the other horrible events) isn't a priority- would be surprised if people would be gambling during such horrific events, but maybe that's just me.
