Mississippi Sportsbetting Handle Drops in September

Sportsbetting in Mississippi took a tumble during the month of September, as handle dropped 21.4% during the period.

Handle for the month was $43.1 million, down from $54.8 million last year. The numbers were still up more than 200% from the $21.2 million bet in August. Despite the drop in handle though, revenues were consistent, coming in at $8.8 million, which was flat with last year. The revenue number was also up 225.9% from the $2.7 million generated in August.

The most popular spot for sportsbetting were the state's coastal casinos, where handle was $28.1 million and revenues were $5.5 million. Central state casinos had revenues of $1.8 million on handle of $8.2 million. The state's northern casinos had revenues of $1.6 million on $6.9 million in handle.

Football generated $16.5 million in handle at coastal casinos, $3.1 million at central casinos, and $4.4 million at northern casinos, making it by far the most popular sport in terms of betting.

Casino win rate was 20.4% during the month, which was higher than the 16.1% rate in 2021.
