Belgium Introduces €200 Weekly Loss Limits

This story was published more than 1 year ago.

This week the Belgian Gaming Commission announced that they've implemented a €200 per week loss limit on gambling per player.

The loss limit was initially announced in July after it was ordered by a royal decree. The move will apply to all player losses across online betting and apply per site. The previous limit in the industry was €500 per week which came into place in April 2020.

Players that feel they can afford to lose more can apply to the BGC to ask for a higher limit. Those who want to request higher limits must not be listed in the Central Individual Credit Register of the National Bank as a defaulter on debt.

The move comes as the BGC is working to implement a ban on gambling advertisements and are working to implement further player protection policies in the country.
