The state of Rhode Island's sportsbetting industry grew in August, generating the state's highest totals since March of this year.
The Rhode Island Lottery reported that sportsbetting revenue grew 172.7% in August to $3 million when compared to the same time period in 2021. $1.6 million was generated through mobile and online sportsbetting, while the remainder was generated through the Twin River and Tiverton casinos located in the state. Twin River generated $866,413 in sportsbetting revenue, while Tiverton hauled in $504,225.
Sportsbetting handle was $27.7 million, up 15.4% from last year, and up 9.9% from July 2022. $17.9 million was bet online, while $9.9 million was bet at the two casinos.
For the year to date handle has eclipsed $53 million, while revenues stand at $5,9 million.
