Michigan Sportsbetting Numbers Rise in August

The state of Michigan's online gaming and sportsbetting numbers jumped 37% in August, according to a report from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The state's online and sportsbetting revenues hit $154.9 million during the month, compared to $113.1 million that was raked in during 20211. The numbers were also up 4.5% from July, when revenues were $148.2 million.

Online gaming revenues were $130.9 million, up 34.2% from last year. Online sportsbetting numbers were up to $24 million, rising 113% from 2021. Handle was also up 13.8% to $218.8 million.

Adjusted gross receipts for internet gaming were $117.5 million, and $16.1 million from sportsbetting.

Online operators paid $24.2 million in taxes from iGaming, while sportsbetting generated $989,621 in tax payments.

These numbers should perk up a bit more once September's totals come into account, as NCAA football and NFL football seasons both got underway during this time.
