Illinois Eclipses $1 Billion in Sportsbetting Revenue

The state of Illinois has become the fourth state to have generated $1 billion in sportsbetting revenue, joining the likes of Pennsylvania, Nevada, and New Jersey.

The state had $46.1 million in revenue in July, the ninth-highest total since the activity went live in March 2020. Handle was $516.4 million, up 40% from the year prior. $496.1 million of that total came from mobile betting. State tax revenues for July were $6.9 million, with a year-to-date total of $58.1 million.

FanDuel had $168.8 million in handle, while DraftKings had $152.2 million. BetRivers was a distant third at $53 million in handle, while PointsBet and BetMGM rounded out the top five operators with $39.9 million and $31 million in handle, respectively.

Baseball was the most popular sport bet, with $202 million in handle, with tennis next at $78.7 million.
