This week the Lithuania Gambling Supervisory Authority announced that it has fined Tete-a-Tete Casino and Betsafe for violating gambling laws in the country.
Tete-a-Tete was fined €15,000 for allowing players to remotely play at its betting site from outside of Lithuania, as the country's regulations require online bettors to be physically located in the country. The group also was warned that it could face licence suspension if they don't remedy this issue. Tete-a-Tete was fined in May for violating marketing rules.
Betsafe owner Gaming Strategy Group was fined €25,000 for advertising rule violations, after sending an email newsletter to 10,430 customers advertising a new online game. The newsletter was sent out in February of this year.
Lithuania's gaming regulator has been active in recent months, dishing out a number of fines and warnings, with the likes of Betsson, Unigames, Top Sport, and others all issued fines. Most of these are related to gambling marketing violations, but the regulator does keep a keen eye out for other lapses as well.
