Belgium Once Again Limits Online Licenses

This week the Belgian Gambling Commission revealed its decision to once again limit the number of online sportsbetting licenses in the country, lowering the number of spots to 30.

The regulator has lowered the max number of licenses in the country down from 34 to 31 last year, and then dropping that number by 1 this year. The reduction is already in effect and will run through July 31st, 2031.

Belgium has been working to strengthen gambling restrictions in the country, with a royal decree coming down last month that limits online deposits to €200 per week, effective October 20th. The country also announced a blanket ban on gambling advertising, save for the national lottery.

No comment from the government or regulator was available as of press time.
