Station Casinos Buys Land for Las Vegas Casino

This story was published more than 2 years ago.

Land casino operator Station Casinos has announced that they've purchased 126 acres of land on the southern side of the Las Vegas Strip, paying $172 million for the plot.

The land is located at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Cactus Avenue and would be a new property build for the company. Station has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, and had previously announced that they're going to be demolishing three of its properties.

The group currently oversees and runs the Red Rock Resort, Green Valley Ranch, Palace Station, Boulder Station, Sunset Station and Santa Fe Station casinos. Despite the hard times, Station is continuing to expand with new properties. The Durango Casino and Resort began construction earlier this year, and Wildfire Casino in Downtown Las Vegas is also under construction.

The company hasn't announced any plans for the area, and these likely won't be spilled until the purchase is officially deeded to Station.

We're following this story and will update readers as appropriate.

Funny how in the same story they talk about closing casinos and demolishing them while at the same time buying new property to build more resorts...
