UK Betting Numbers Down in March

The UK Gambling Commission announced that gross gaming yields in March were down in March to £362.8 million, down from the £405 million generated in February of this year.

The country's online industry continued to grow, with online slot revenues up 14.6% to £192.8 million, online casino revenue up 11.7% to £54.2 million, and online poker was up 4.2% to £6.2 million. Real-event betting was down a staggering 40.6% to £104.5 million, due largely to promotions related to the Cheltenhem Festival.

In terms of player numbers, slots had 3.6 million active players, up 11%. Other gambling players were 2.1 million, up 8.9%. There were 238,449 active poker players, up 1.3%, and there were 232,750 active virtual event bettors, down 15.3%.

There were 323.1 million vets on real events, and 6.3 billion on slot machine spins in the country. 319.1 million other bets were placed on other gambling.

Retail operators had revenues of £32.4 million from self-service kiosks, while over-the-counter wagers generated £56.7 million. Other machine revenues came in at &poune;101.1 million.
