This story was published more than 2 years ago.

Regulated sportsbetting has only been active in New York since January 8th, but the industry has generated $7.15 billion since that time.

The numbers were reported by the New York State Gaming Commission and revealed that handles are surging in the Empire State. FanDuel is leading the way, with $2.75 billion in wagers. DraftKings is next with $1.73 billion, while Caesars is in third place with $1.58 billion.

New York has a 51% tax on mobile sports wagers, and thus far $263.4 million has been generated in taxes.

The amount of handle for sportsbetting in New York is among the highest in the United States, as New York has a bustling population and one of the largest cities in the entire country.

It'll certainly be interesting to see where the full-year results lead down the line.
