Illinois Sportsbook See Handle Hit $971.3 Million

This week the Illinois Gaming Board announced that the state's sportsbetting handle hit $971.3 million in March, beating the previous record of $867.5 million that was set in January of this year.

The numbers are up 53% from last year, and up 155.6% from February 2022. The handle generated $9.8 million in state and local taxes. 95.5% of the handle was generated online, with FanDuel in Collinsville generating $315.3 million in online and retail wagers. DraftKings in East St. Louis was the next-highest generator with $289.2 million in online and retail handle. BetRivers online had handle of $105.9 million.

Basketball led the way in terms of handle, as the NBA, NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and WNBA generated $554.3 million in bets. Tennis was next with $64 million bet.
