US-based betting operator BetMGM announced that they've come to terms with Major League Baseball's Houston Astros, becoming the team's exclusive sportsbetting partner moving forward.
The deal will give BetMGM signage throughout the team's home stadium of Minute Maid Park, with an outfield wall sign and rotating signage behind home plate. The company will collaborate with the Astros to generate exclusive betting offers for fans of the team in neighboring Louisiana, as sportsbetting isn't legal in Texas yet. Additionally, BetMGM will get other marketing and usage rights, and has stated that they'll be tailoring experiences for players, including trips to watch the team compete, throwing out first pitches at games, and more.
Regarding the agreement, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said, "The Houston Astros are a monumental addition to our portfolio of strategic partnerships with professional sports teams across the US.
"The organization's passionate fan base will be key to the growth of BetMGM throughout the South as we look for new ways to engage fans with unique experiences that go beyond the game."
Astros Senior VP Giles Kibbe also commented, noting: "We are looking forward to our partnership with BetMGM. As we continue to strive for new ways to add to the fan experience, this partnership will provide another way for the Astros to engage with our fans."
